The course is almost exclusively taught by primary instructors Kirsten Reiss and Burkhard Langemann, who are the founders of the Akasha Yoga Academy. The intense presence of our head teachers and the small group size allows for personalized guidance and individual support.
The increased amount of practice coupled with the intellectual approach of philosophy and an applied yogic lifestyle allow for a profound immersion into the depth of classical Hatha Yoga.
The enthusiastic teachers and the inspiring spiritual surroundings have the potential to trigger profound transformations, making this Teacher Training Course a unique and life-changing experience. The intensive schedule of this full-time program is balanced by the lush and nourishing tropical environment. Live your dream and allow yourself to evolve in this perfect environment.

Deep-going energy based Hatha Yoga & Spiritual Heart meditation
The intensive practice of asana, pranayama, and meditation can trigger evolution on many levels: amplified body awareness, strength and flexibility, increase of health and vitality, experience of sublet energies and chakras, understanding, balancing and harmonizing of emotions, and a clearer, sharper, more concentrated mind.
Your physical asana practice coupled with meditation has the potential to lead you on a profound journey towards yourself and into the present moment.
Extensive outline of metaphysics, history and philosophy
Many of the lectures have an eye-opening effect on our habitual way of living; our course is remarkable in that it presents the inspiring, contemplative teachings of the yogic tradition in a rational, understandable way. Our head teachers transmit the ancient wisdom of yoga by relating it to a modern, scientific perspective. Their approach provides a lucid union of East and West, and opens a space for actual integration of theory and practice. By applying the theoretical teachings in formal practice and daily life, participants learn how to authentically “walk the talk.”
Application of a yogic lifestyle
Throughout the training, we practice a broad selection of hatha yoga and meditation techniques, ethical and philosophical recommendations, yogic diet, and purification exercises, to get a more experiential feel of what yoga is all about, and how this path actually works. Participation in our training is a submission to an authentic yogic lifestyle – which repeatedly causes great revelations about our daily routines, and an actual experience of how a more consciously chosen lifestyle quickly brings about some deeper change. Such direct experience will provide participants with the insight and confidence to help themselves and others.
Methodical physical and energetic teachings, and effective correction and alignment training
Every technique taught during the training includes a detailed overview over the correct physical way of practice, variations and prop support, mental focus, health benefits, energetic effects as well as psychological impacts. A thorough hands on alignment and correction training together with an introduction into Thai-Yoga massage builds confidence in how to safely work with other people bodies and provide a thorough understanding of the postures.
Supervised teaching experience
The experience of actually teaching yoga during the TTC boosts the participants’ personal growth in various areas. The pedagogical framework and the supportive feedback of our professional instructors empower the participants to quickly obtain the required skills to successfully instruct yoga classes. A variety of teachings such as holding space, voice training, leadership qualities, etc. allow the graduates to evolve into inspiring teachers.
Personal guidance and family-like group atmosphere
The limited group size (20 students in Bali and 24 students in Thailand) provides the opportunity for personalized assistance on all levels. One-on-one interviews with our well-experienced teachers help to unfold hidden potential. The accessibility of the teachers as well as the residential setting quickly transforms the group into a supportive family-like structure.
The dedication and the passion of the head teachers, coupled with the openness and availability of the aspiring teachers create a transformative field with the potential of profound changes within.
Tropical nature and yoga community
The location in Thailand is the tropical paradise of Koh Phangan, a well-developed small island located in the Gulf of Thailand. Lush forests and waterfalls, the turquoise tranquil ocean, and a mixture of the local Thai culture and an international yoga community contribute to the unique laid-back, simple and relaxed atmosphere.
Our venue in Bali is situated in Ubud, the cultural hub of the island. A diverse landscape with black and white sand beaches, fertile volcanic mountains, tropical lush vegetation, and a rich cultural life making the island unique. The international surf and yoga community is well integrated into the local society of the welcoming Balinese people.
