Sahasrara Chakra - The Crown Chakra

Crown Chakra — Sahasrara

The Crown Chakra, Sahasrara, literally means the 1000 petaled one. Located on top of the head, it is also known as the "Brahmic Fissure", because, at the moment of liberation, Consciousness could leave the body through this point to merge with the Absolute. Sahasrara’s full potential is said to appear in the form of a mystical experience and illumination, the transcendence of manifestation, which brings about the enlightened state overflowing with bliss. It is associated with ultimate lucidity, detachment and wisdom. Completely present in the moment, the mind stops and everything is seen as One.

"This is the upper terminal point of the central channel (sushumna-nadi) and the final destination of the awakened 'serpent power' (kundalini-shakti). When the kundalini, the force of Devi, reaches this center, this signals the merging of Shiva and Shakti."
- Georg Feuerstein - Shambala Encyclopedia of Yoga.
